I bought this for my classroom (6th grade ancient history), but I literally had to smuggle it out of my house under the dark of night (ok, 6am darkness) so my own kids (aged 4 and 6) wouldn't know it was gone. They LOVE this book. We used to spend nights reading Fancy Nancy and Skippyjon Jones, but now they repeatedly request the "Egypt book" - and so we look at the amazing color photos, the incredible artist renderings, and the interesting collage-style facts that this book is filled with. Even the gruesome photos of the mummies (and there are several!) aren't too disgusting for my kids, and they are nicely arranged by brightly colored images of death masks and what the Pharaohs may have dressed like in life so they aren't too overpowering. There are so many interesting facts in this book that even I learned a lot - and I teach an entire unit on Ancient Egyptian history! Yes, this is a fabulous book, and I can't wait to get the Castle book in the same series. Will this book work as a single source for an Egyptian history project - no, probably not, but it's format makes it kid friendly and easy to read a few pages, glean some cool information, and hit the sack without feeling like you've filled your head with too much fluff. (The one downside was that it started falling apart WAY too quickly - the binding just wasn't put together very well - but I imagine this is probably a solitary issue and not something that happens across the board with all of these books. It would have been nicer in hardcover, but I'm a hardcover book snob!)

I got this book for my daughter, because she loves reading about ancient Egypt. She loved this book, didn't have anything negative to say about it. However, like another reviewer, we had the experience that the binding fell apart pretty fast, within the first couple of days she was using it. Now I'm fine busting out the packing tape if I have to, but no matter how much she liked something, I can't give it a full 5 star rating if I have to tape it together that quickly. I think the manufacturer definitely needs to do a better job of putting these together, because when you pay for a new book, you expect it's going to hold together for a bit of time. I would rate it lower because of the binding falling apart so fast, but she really, really enjoyed this book and I think she'd probably object to me taking any stars off, but on principal, I feel like it's an issue that needs to be addressed.

My 3 1/2 year old is Egyptology obsessed and this book only made it better. He loves it. We read it about 278 times a day. He loves mummies and can now tell you how mummies are made, about hieroglyphics and how they stored mummies organs and valuables. The first book did fall apart, the glue binding it together gave way separating the cover from the insides but Amazon quickly sent a new one for n two days and I returned the damaged item. Recommended

brilliant colors, interesting factoids and can be read on a surface level for younger kids (mine is 3) or more in depth for kids who are a lil older and have more patience. Very informative and told in a fun way. Images are very well done, quality print. We bought it for my son's 4th bday party - he chose an Egyptian theme.

I've learned more from this book than I did from my tour guide when I was in Egypt. My grandson and I are returning to Egypt next month (hopefully), and we are both reading and taking this book. I got a copy for him AND for me!!!!

My 8 year old nephew is crazy about Egypt and loved this book, which I gave him on his birthday. He immediately buried himself in it, had the biggest smile, and read it aloud.

This book---developed by National Geographic---is wonderful. It's designed and written for older children and teens, but adults will love it too. The book covers basic, everyday life in ancient Egypt. Great gift for those who would like a mini-history lesson. The 65-page 9-inch x 11-in. book comes with outstanding graphics and beautiful photographs.

I loved the wealth of information contained in this publication. I didn't know half of what it contained and I consider myself somewhat of an Egypt textbook. The information this contained was also very helpful in assisting my younger brother complete a project on Egypt for his history class. I absolutely LOVE IT!

Best book I have read on tinnitus so far. No hype or trying to sell you any magic cure lots of good information

I have tinnitus and it is fairly new for me, having had it less than six months. When I first got it, I was completely dismayed, depressed, and totally clueless as to how I got it, if I could cure it, and even what tinnitus is other than the completely annoying whine in my ear. So, the first thing I needed to do was educate myself on what tinnitus is, what causes it, potential treatments, etc., and this book really helped me tremendously in understanding my tinnitus. It's way more complex than I thought and now I understand it is actually a symptom of something else, not the actual condition. If you are new to tinnitus, or if you've had it for many years, take the time to read this book so you can understand the anatomical functions of your ear, what tinnitus is, possible treatments, living with tinnitus, etc., as this is an excellent overview of tinnitus. If you have a partner, have them read the book as well so they can understand what you are dealing with - there is even a chapter for those that are living with people that have tinnitus. Anyway, I enjoyed the book immensely, it's very easy to read, not complicated and difficult to understand, and I feel way more educated regarding my tinnitus. No cure yet, but hopefully sometime in the near future!

I have been experienced 24/7 tinnitus for the last 6 months. I had tried to research all the information I could to help me understand what was happening to me. In my journey, I found this book. It has been very helpful as it gave me more information than I have received from the two ENT doctors I have visited. I appreciate that the author is himself a tinnitus sufferer and 100% understands what it is like to never enjoy silence again. Dr. Knoblauch writes in easy to understand language. Though I hope that someday there will be a cure for it, in the meantime, I will focus on the author's suggestions about how to live a good like with it. I wish all my family members could read his chapter on Life with a Tinnitus Sufferer. I am going to bullet point it for them so they will better understand what life is like for me. I highly recommend this book as a great resource for those with tinnitus.

Most books like this are real yawners, but this one is easy to read, and gave me an understanding of my tinnitus. I found that high altitude has a positive influence on my tinnitus. At elevations of over 5,000 feet, it goes away! If you have tinnitus and are frustrated, read this book and learn about it.

As a fairly new sufferer of tinnitus, I found this book very useful. Easy to understand explanations covering all facets of tinnitus. I also appreciate the fact that the author himself has tinnitus. I’ve found in life that you tend to connect more with someone who has experienced the same thing that you’re going through.

Writing is very technical and difficult to read. Haven't seriously sat down to give it a good go.

I got my copy of Green's book 5 days ago and I love it. It just explains things clear and simple. It's like talking to someone in front of you, like as if there was a tutor there with you. I still have to follow the text book, but any real topic where I need a more clear, concise understanding of - I can definitely refer to Green's after reading Egan's. Green's book just makes better sense.

Amazing book!!! It has been so helpful!!! I can't imagine where I would be without it!! Definitely worth the money and the read!!! Thank you for all the insight.. it has put me on the right path! 👍🏻

Teacher reccomended this for my RT program. I bought it immediately while he was still explaing why it's useful. Egan's respiratory book is still THE book for RTs.. But this supplements other RT books very well. This has nice large font, simplified, and easy to read and understand.

I tire of Christian mommy self-help books. I've been introduced to quite a few through the M.O.M.S. group at our church, Facebook moms' groups and recommendations from friends. I've read and enjoyed a few, and I've enjoyed the conversation that a few a them spurred in my groups. But I tire of their step-by-step messages of how to fix this and do that better. I tire of their subtle guilt-inducing yet pandering and condescendingly sugary message, as if I am a tender thing to be coddled while a list of my failings is laid before me. I know they mean well, and some of them even contain the truth...somewhere. While I reject their trite offerings of an easy fix, I am ever aware that this mothering thing I'm doing is hard, that I'm failing at it in significant ways, and that there must be hope for doing it right, loving my little ones well, growing in grace.This is not one of those books. I've seen reviewers call this book honest, practical, biblical, and helpful, and it is all of those things. It is divided into 31 topics and can function as a month-long devotional study. The chapters are short and contain many scripture references as well as practical advice. It can also be read straight-through (as I did). I have no doubt that every parent could find wisdom here applicable to her situation no matter the types of trials her family faces. But this is not why I love this book, have found it infinitely valuable on first reading, and will return to it again and again. What Amber and Wendy have done for parents is beautiful and far beyond self-help or practical advice. You will not find in this book a message of sticky-sweet guilt accompanied by a list of things to do, quotes to pin on your mirror, and charts to make everything better. What you will find is the gospel, sometimes spoken in brutal honesty, but also in tender grace and humility. See, the thing that tires me about all of those other books is that I know, to the core of my being, that I cannot just set my mind to be a good mom and make it all come out roses. I am weak, and I am a sinner, and I fail. I can memorize your list of alliterated correct responses to my triggers and somehow call that to mind when it seems like all the world is crumbling around me, but that won't save me, change me, or grow gentleness in me. That is the point of the gospel, and that is on glorious display in this book. Whether you recognize a struggle with anger in your parenting or not, this book is an excellent resource. I don't know that I have ever read a better display of sanctification in progress. This is how it works. This is how God works- through prayerful repentance, humility, and the power of His Word. I started reading thinking I would pick out a few triggers that apply to me and breeze through the rest of it, but it turned out that every chapter arrested me. These are not easy or flippant answers; no cheerleading; this is truth and I think I can breathe again.I received a free copy of this book.

I really needed the advice in this book. I have 3 small children and my nerves were wearing thin. Each chapter (small at around 4 pages each) detailed a different child or parent behavior that can cause an angry mommy (or daddy) reaction and then broke that behavior down. It would suggest an alternative perspective, a solution, a Bible verse, and a prayer. I read one chapter a day, which made finishing the book and retaining it's information very manageable. I found the advice and perspective refreshing and helpful (no "just pray about it"s). The chapter titles (aka behaviors) were ON POINT to what we face as parents. I have recommended this book to ALL of my mommy friends. I sing it's praises! (AND more importantly, sing the praises of the one it writes about: Jesus!)

It surprised me and caught me totally off guard the first time I got angry at my toddler. He was my second born, and my first born was at an age where was certainly ascerting his own will. I had amanaged to be a composed and kind mother so far and I thought that it would be possible to do it all the time. I was so wrong! I then found the No More Angry MOB group on FB. That group, and the founders were a God-send. I discovered that I had several triggers and learning to identify them helped me be better prepared to respond to them and my littles.I was part of this group when triggers was a daily question followed up by advice and comments and it blessed me so I was so excited and thankful when Wendy and Amber announce Triggers would become a book.I love the way the book is organized, the way it begins with a personal story followed by a biblical and practical approach to a particular trigger and a prayer at the end. It is not a "How-to-step-by-step" book, it will not solve all your problems and t will not change you immediately into a happy mom who always respond with a cheery tone every time. Rather, this book will challenge you to look deep within, to address your own heart, to discover and identify and name your triggers, it will point you to Scripture, it will encourage you and help you pave the way to change your reactions into a proactive approach. It will provide you with helpful bible verses that you can memorize or put on your kitchen and go to them when you're facing a situation with your people. If God has put in your heart a desire to be a mom who speaks truth seasoned with LOVE and GRACE and GENTLENESS, this is a very practical book for you. Give it a chance!

I was struggling with a lot of anger and bitterness after becoming a single mom. I knew something had to change. Nice surprise story from Wulf. Dark as always. Loved every word of it! A Merry Christmas from the dark side!!

Well, this definitely isn’t your Grandmother’s Christmas story. Wulf Francu Godgluck has proven yet again that when he says “They come to me in the night, creeping into my head. Their voices are all different, their stories all dissimilar, but they keep saying the same thing…Show us, tell us to the world. Bring us into yours, and make us known” he isn’t just speaking off the cuff.This man’s thought patterns don’t even come close to resembling the rest of us! And I love that about him! In this short (very short) story we are introduced to “Booger” Loidl and his boyfriend Josh Willbrie. Booger has been an outcast all through high school, but that has changed in his senior year because he is now dating Josh, a star athlete.Something strange is happening in their school and their town. People are turning up dead, with their hearts ripped out and missing. Some of them had an issue with Booger and his family, but who is killing them?I totally didn’t see the end coming in this story. It didn’t go where I thought it would. I recommend it for a short very dark read. Just .... No. I had the murderer figured out almost from the beginning but it still didn’t really make sense. Just WHAT did he become ?
