While I was preparing for the Audit portion of the CPA exam, I was having trouble even remotely understanding the Audit sampling section of my CPA Exam preparation course. After scanning the table of contents via Amazon preview, I noticed that this book had 10-12 pages that covered that sampling. After I got the book and studied that section, I had a 100% better understanding of Audit Sampling in about 30 minutes. I was then able to easily answer (most) of the questions of my prep course.Additionally, I found some of the other chapters very helpful in explaining other auditing topics in more colloquial language than my CPA course used. This helped me understand difficult topics more quickly and allowed me to maximize my study time.Most of the topics I read about were heavily tested on my exam, which I barely passed. I don't think I would have passed the exam had I not had this book. Considering the time and cost of preparing for the exam, this book was invaluable.

I purchased this book just for the basics of auditing. This book was probably created with a "dummy" in mind, well dumb to the subject if he or she has never studied it before. I am not planning to use this book for a thesis or anything but it does contain some basics on the subject of auditing. I recommend this for just basic information only. I can see a college instructor's face and reaction if this book is used for anything other than simply reading it.

This book is a real beginner's book for someone who aspires to learn what auditing is all about.Having said that, this book is far from becoming a supplement to preparing for CPA exam or for a college audit course.

the little situations presented are fine and you are given multiple choice answers for the kids to read and decide which is the best way to handle the situation which is a good approach for kids. The issue I have is that the scriptures given at the end to "help decide" how to handle this situation do not really even seem to corelate to the sticky situation they are talking about. I don't think there has been one in almost the first two weeks using this that seems to really be relevant. I could have come up with much better verses on my own. Other than that Its a good tool to get them in the habit of regularly spending some time doing devotions and reading scripture.

We really love this family devotion! Each entry is short and to the point, with more detailed questions in the back of the book if you want to divulge further. It has sparked some great conversations with our 7 year olds. I think that the age range for this book would be 6-10 years old. I think older kids would find some of the situations elementary and while a parent could use it as a base and take it further, it would require more prep time. I like that we can sit down and I can open it up and having never seen it before, jump right in.

Love this devotional. The situations presented each day are very realistic and applicable. My 9 year old and I read these every morning at breakfast. Quick, attention holding, applicable. I love how the pages are dated, so if we miss a day, we just keep going to the current date. This is a devotional we can use year after year because the situations are applicable to every age group, even parents! It's a keeper!

We have been using Sticky Situations for a few months now and our kids love it. Our children are ages 6 & 11. The devotions are perfect for older elementary and middle school children, however, my 6 year old also loves to help figure out the solution to the problem. The book always gives one answer to the solution, but sometimes in real life, there may be more than one answer. This is a great opportunity for parents to jump in and guide kids in the way they should go. I love how the book brings up topics (like dating), that may not be on the mind of a parent of a middle schooler, but the kids are already on that page and ready to go. (kudos to the author!) GREAT discussions have come about as a result of this book. One thing to note, this book is a wonderful and fun tool to draw us to scripture to figure out life's sticky situations, but nothing is a substitute for diving deep into the Word of God every day.

The devotions are short, which CAN be nice if you are in a rush, but sometimes our children need extra time to talk about issues and what the bible has to say. This gives a scenario and then asks a multiple choice question, most of the time they are ridiculously obvious. My son always knows right away what the answer is. I have some issues with the scenario's in the book, yes, it touches on life issues (being introduced to drugs, stealing) but they are short and not very thought provoking. Even the extra questions in the back of the book are so obvious. I was hoping the stories would be longer and it would be a real conversation starter, instead it takes literally one minute to get done with the devotion for the night. It leaves me, more to be desired. Bedtime for us isn't usually a rush rush go to bed thing, nor are they just a child only thing, I like to read them with him. I am going to look for another devotional for boys. Maybe a more realistic one. My issue with the book is that scenario-wise the book is for probably young teens/preteens, but the answers in the book are elementary. My son is 9 and when we read a devotion, the answers are so obvious, that even if the scenario's don't fit into his life, he knows what the correct answer is. At 9, thankfully, he hasn't been introduced to drugs, but when asked the question "Should Jerry sniff the whiteout that his friend Scott is sniffing?" A) he should take one sniff and then say he didn't like it b) he should tell scott that he isn't feeling well, so maybe another time? c) should he should say "no thanks" and go right home to tell his parents that scott is sniffing whiteout or d) take the whiteout from scott and use it for correcting mistakes on his next paper. This isn't a quoted scenario from the book, just an example....but you get the jist of it. I think the scenario's could be better & longer (it reminds me of a test you take in elementary school), the questions afterward could be better, too. Will find another book.

This is a very nice devotional for kids. It gives an everyday situation, then multiple choice answers on the correct way to handle it. For the correct answer, there is a Bible verse to back it up. Great for parents to do with their children, and plenty of discussion opportunities.

The purpose of teaching our children about morals and values is to equip them with the ability to make good choices. The key word here is not "good choices." The key word is "MAKE." How are we to be successful in this if they do not have opportunities to MAKE good choices? This is why I love this book. The book plays out different real life scenarios, and then leaves your child to decide what the best choice to handle the situation is. The multiple choice layout is great. The author not only includes a worse and best choice option, but also choices that may be acceptable, yet not the best. I love how this book gets my children thinking. I gave the book 5 stars with no reservations at all.

We wanted to help guide our children in making good ethical choices and this book has helped tremendously. Pages are divided by days of the year - some relating vaguely with calendar events (school starting, summer camp, etc) most work with any situation. Each day has a short scenario where the child has to make a decision and can choose from the multiple choice items as well as turn to the biblical reference.We follow up the discussion with questions about what might happen next, what impact this situation might have later, and /or (depending on scenario) how might this fictional character keep from getting into this situation the next time.Bottom line - my kids love it, they remember the stories and they are learning to see the world through God's eyes.

Not what I expected. Great textbook for a class on the subject. Not helpful for learning to read lips.

Great book with tons of activity ideas and education. There aren't a lot of speechreading resources out there and even though this one is older, its great!

I haven't delved into this book yet, but from the Index it looks like all I need is this and practice.All I did was google lip reading at Amazon and they were on their way. Thank you, Amazon.

This book is intended to help in Oral Transliteration. I read this text for an OT course several years ago, and I still find myself using some of the principles regularly. This book, I am sure, would help in any OT professional use or OT certification. I never had a chance to take that certification exam, but I bet it wouldn't hurt.I feel that it would help anyone who communicates with someone who is hard of hearing or deaf (who DOES NOT use any kind of signed language). It gives all kinds of tips about gestures and rephrasing, using key words. Say a friend is going deaf, and you notice they aren't understanding you as well as before, this book could help you. A member of my family has lost much of his hearing, and I use some of the tips in this book to help him understand me.There are tons of exercises in the back- but they require having a partner who can read (without voicing) the sentences, so you pick up on how to speechread them.I also have found myself out somewhere, speechreading people across the room. Speechreading is difficult and requires hours of practice. For so many people, this is how they get their information, by "reading lips". It amazing how much they have to concentrate and pay attention. The (deaf) man who taught my Speechreading course, read the lips of his professors for a bachelor and master's degree, without the help of a transliterator. Amazing! I have much respect for the speechreaders out there.

This book was great from a beginner's perspective. I have a good working knowledge of how excel works, but needed to expand on that knowledge with learning to write Macro's in VBA. This book was very helpful and got me to a point where I feel very comfortable writing my own Macro's, as well as editing previously written macro's.I do need to complain about the number of typo's in the book. There were many obvious typo's that made certain passages difficult to understand. I felt that since this is such technical subject matter, that accuracy should be of the utmost importance.For the most part it was easy to understand and follow, however, there were sections of code that didn't agree with the instructions. There were also lines of code that contained extra/had missing characters that caused the subs to error out. Maybe the author purposely wrote some of it this way to indirectly force the reader to debug the code. I found it frustrating and distracting.Overall a very useful tool to help a beginner.

The title is very misleading. The book is way too short, covers topics very superficially, and if I weren't already familiar with Excel I would be so lost with the overly general instructions. I was expecting something meatier for the price. This definitely will NOT help you "learn," let alone "master" VBA. This is more suited for a $3 eBook. To be honest I wouldn't have paid even $3 for it, not what I was looking for. Ended up splurging on the Excel 2016 Power Programming with VBA by Alexander and Kusleika. It may cost $10 more, but it is ten times thicker.

Excel VBA, or what coders might refer to as Visual Basic for Applications, is a built-in coding program found in Microsoft Office’s Excel. This book was written with beginners in mind. So, no background in coding is required. In total, this book contains fifteen chapters that each covers an essential function of Excel VBA. Many of these functions build off of each other. Respective authors own all copyrights not held by the publisher. Using this function of Excel, you will be able to create applications customized for to your needs such as automatically analyzing a chart of data, using formulas to collect data, or creating dialogue boxes and customized user forms. Well written and accessible. I wanted a book for beginners, so this worked. I plan to get another book that is more advanced when I am finished with this one so I can continue to learn. Exercises are easy to do, and all you need is Excel. Gives explicit direction and guidance on how to implement VBA within Excel. Gives detailed explanations on all aspects of creating macros. This book will help you learn VBA programming if you want it. In my opinion, illustrations are a good way to understand some steps and programming processes. Of course, after getting a new skill you need to practice a lot to making mistakes and writing code.

I was able to learn about VBA Programming, as I have found by working through the chapters in this book, is to practice. I must get into the visual basic editor and explore all the different functions and properties that Excel has to offer. I found this book really helpful.

After reading the book and going through the examples, there are some serious problems that should have been addressed in the editing stages of making it and I have a feeling a few of these reviews may be fake. The book goes through simple excel macros and could be used as a beginner guide, however the book has many errors which sometimes make the book difficult to follow. In fact, I may be becoming a better coder because I am able to find the flaws in the practice codes in this book. Basically I have found that the best way to get better at coding macros is doing examples which are found free online, and this book is definitely over priced.

I am an accountant and this book helped me a lot in this work. It describes all helpful technologies in a very simple way. I like this book and i recommend it.

All I kept saying to myself during my read of this book was "Holy Crap!!!" And I'm only through a quarter of the book!! I'm tempted to call my narc husband and tell him that someone wrote his biography, because this book reads like HIS PLAYBOOK!! My gut kept telling me all along something was wrong, but since my husband is real good at maintaining the facade of caring, and an expert at downplaying my feelings and doling out the intermittent presents, I had a hard time reconciling the 'caring' facade with the cold sadistic attitude. This author shows why I and you are targeted by narcissists (being successful, and/or empathetic), and how your best qualities are used against you by the twisted narc. I really was feeling stupid after wasting years on a narc spouse, but in truth, the reason I was used is because I'm a good person and therefore a predator narc's primary target for abuse. The author also gives a list of red flags to identify a narc, so you don't waste time on them ever again. Of course there are strategies to deal with any narc that is currently in your life. I would encourage anyone who is in a relationship, even a familial relationship, in which you feel something is wrong, but you can't quite pinpoint the cause....READ THIS BOOK!! You may just find the answer to your confusion and pain...I'm not done reading this book yet, but one thing I can already clearly understand....any narcissist or borderline personality disorder type person who reads this book is going to HATE it....because it EXPOSES them!!!

I have read 50+ books on narcissistic personality disorder, narcissistic abuse, domestic abuse, trauma, PTSD, etc. This book is one of the best. Ms. Arabi is an excellent, thorough and insightful researcher and journalist. She lays the groundwork for recovery by explaining the impact of narcissistic abuse, synthesizing those truths with provocative insights from leading scholars and then offering practical suggestions and methods of recovery.This book is extremely well-documented and well-researched. Arabi not only addresses NPD and narcissistic abuse but delves into PTSD/CPTSD, citing the works of renowned experts such as Judith Herman, M.D., author of the foundational book “Trauma and Recovery,” and Patrick Carnes, Ph.D. (“The Betrayal Bond”). She also ties in the work of Bessel van der Kolk M.D., who in his book “The Body Keeps the Score” reveals how trauma rewires the the brain, along with dozens of other sources, both classic and contemporary.Each chapter of Arabi’s book features an impressive endnotes section as well as links to articles, podcasts and social media resources. She manages to combine all these sources into a comprehensive and revealing look at narcissistic abuse and its effects on the survivor. She then offers practical tips and alternatives for recovering from the trauma of narcissistic abuse. I was personally inspired and motivated by her creative recommendations for recovery – I even surprised myself by experimenting with the guided meditation links and redoubling my commitment to doing Zumba four times a week. This is not the first book I have read on NPD. I wish this would have been the very first book I read, instead. It would have saved me of much headache and heartache. I am not finished reading this book, but I had to come in here and provide a review already. Just from the very first pages, this book has been able to help me understand my own personal situation with the narcissist in my life. A book that finally says it clearly the way it is and with sounded advise, not just for professionals in the field, but for the regular folk who has unfortunately been the victim of narcissist abuse. Because we have to call it for what it is: Abuse. I wish the courts in this country would be given this book and more education on this matter, especially when there are children involved. Courts force you to share custody with the narcissist parent when children and the former spouse should actually be allowed to keep contact to a minimum or no contact at all. In this particular case, exposure to the narcissist is not really a good idea for developing spirits and minds. Anybody who knows anything about NPD will tell you that the best thing to do is to go no contact. Other books suggest to remother the narcissist or do this or that. It does not work with these individuals because in their minds, they are always right and the whole world is conspiring against them. That's the main reason why neither the courts, nor supposed trained professionals can provide a diagnostic of NPD for those individuals because they can put a great act together for the whole world to see. By the time you realize what you're dealing with, you're already caught in their web of lies and deceive. Shahida Arabi explains all of this very clearly, in a way that anybody can understand. She has included clear examples of situations that are the "norm" for those suffering from this abuse. Anybody can see the scars left by violent physical abuse, but when it comes to emotional abuse, it is very difficult to prove in court or even to those who may be close to the victim. Shahida explains all the tools that a narcissist will use to control those around him or her. She shares her own personal and professional experience, as well as those of victims who have entrusted her with their own experience. Some reviews say that she's a bit repetitive at times. I have noticed that while reading the book. But believe me, repetition can be good to make some points, especially after you have been a victim yourself. Some things need to be repeated more than once because you have been gaslighted so much that you have trouble discerning reality from fog and you keep doubting yourself after so much abuse of this kind.For what my own personal opinion might be worth, and from the view point of someone who has suffered the abuse of a narcissist, this book is a must-read. If you're lost and you don't know where to go, you feel isolated and your gut feeling is telling you that something has to change and you don't know who to trust or where to go for help, start with this book. It will help you understand your own situation, why the narcissist in your life treats you kindly one moment to completely ignore you or put you down the next; why that person accuses you of being controlling when you feel you have absolutely no control over your life and you feel that he or she is actually controlling you, instead; you will understand where did that loving, caring, compassionate person of the early stages of your relationship has gone and why you might be now dealing with someone who doesn't even resemble that soulmate of yours; and more. I love the fact that she's been there and she's done her hard work to understand this pathology not only from a victim's stance, but from a professional point of view.I also got the Kindle version since it is free when you buy the book and I had absolutely no problems downloading it. I had noticed a few slight changes from the paper to the electronic version (I'm guessing one is a newer edition, not sure why there're these slight differences, but it seems to just be an editing thing.) But there are minimal and it doesn't affect. I love that I can read the book on my tablet or from the paper copy with no problems.I think I said enough. I could go on talking about it, but I will let the book speak for itself. Read the sneak-preview in here. If you're a victim, I'm sure you'll identify yourself even in those few pages. That's what happened to me. Only a victim can understand what I mean.
