I love this author and his comics on Reddit and Instagram. My little brother and my husband are both fans also, so this was a perfect Christmas stocking stuffer. The book is so funny and comes packed with comics, many of which we haven't seen already. I keep this book on our end table for guests to thumb through while we're cooking and almost all of them have laughed after only a few pages. Super fun to have.

I like the dark but simple comics in Reza's POORLY DRAWN LINES. The humor and oddball situations mix beautifully with the straightforward art style, which is absolutely the right choice.The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the book description said the book was a collection of comics and essays, so I was hoping to see some of Reza sharing his creative process instead of humorous story vignettes.Definitely an enjoyable book and I look forward to future collections.

Poorly Drawn Lines is perfect if you love dry humor as much as I do. This book is very high quality and includes some bonus content (great if you've already read everything online).This would be a great little gift for someone with an offbeat sense of humor!

The art is simplicity at it's finest, the scenarios are bizzare, and the wit is oh so sharp! Much to my surprise, there are several short stories and essays in this collection, and they are exquisite! Finding them as enjoyable as I did, they were a pleasant diversion from the stellar illustrated material.

As a huge fan of Poorly Drawn Lines, I was thrilled to finally have Ernesto, Kevin, Small Cat, and all the rest in convenient offline book form! Filled with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments from old favorites alongside some glorious new strips, "Good I dead and Amazing Stories" does not disappoint.

I'm a sucker for coffee table books and hilarious web comics. This book covers both impeccably. The art style is adorable and unique, and the jokes are poignant and endlessly quotable. I only wish there were more. Support this creator!

...as usual with this series, edition after edition after edition, the index is terrible. I don't think I will buy this again. Although I like the idea of having a quick, up to date synopsis right at hand while I work, if you can't find the information easily, it isn't worth the trouble.

Great info and small enough to take to work. I love that it includes dosages in the treatments .

Great size handbook. Only downfall is that the topics are written in paragraph reading form, would be nice to have it as bullet form, esp when you are rushed for time to look up medications, treatments, etc.

Upon immediate inspection of the book, I noticed a few pages were misprinted/misfolded. Despite this, I decided to keep the book. I have been taking great care of the book with some gentle highlighting, but the binding is falling apart. The content of the book is great, but hard to appreciate when the book is falling apart. I would like a refund!

If you are moonlighting in the ER, this is a great resource. Super helpful and fits in the white coat pocket.

I struggle to write this review, not because it isn't a beautiful story, but because it is so far from the reality of most couples facing dementia. My husband is in mid-stage dementia and I am a retired RN, so I was interested to compare my journey. Mike and Rosalys had a near-perfect situation, very unlike mine and many others. Mike was told and accepted his diagnosis and was able to help make decisions. They had two loving children and a network of amazingly supportive friends. They had a primary doctor who was wonderful. Mike had some melt-downs but no significant behavioral/emotional issues. They were able to go to their cabin every year and travel. It seemed they had all the pieces of the puzzle that we spouses hope for but not many of us are able to have. I almost stopped reading the book mid-way, but I really wanted to see why she could write something so different from my experience. This book did reinforce my belief that patience and love are the key factors in dealing with dementia, but very that often isn't enough. If spouses pick up this book to help prepare themselves for the journey ahead, many will be disappointed because we don't all have a (relatively) compliant spouse or access to an amazing network of support. A beautiful love story for them, a fairy tale for many of us.

An inspiring story of enduring love, strength in the face of daunting tragedy, and how the everyday power of loving presence can define lives with such clarity that even death seems like a mere detail. Everyone can learn important life lessons from this book, and the writing is so clear and flowing that it was heartwarming as well as engrossing to read. As the son of a mother who suffered with debilitating Alzheimer's for over ten years, I wish our entire family (especially my stepfather) had had such a hopeful resource as this. Hooray for this book's wisdom regarding living and loving with Alzheimer's.

A most important book to read, even if a different option for living with Alzheimer's is chosen. That's because its message pertains to all couples who approach old age and death together! Couples living with dementia should read it together: it articulates the pitfalls and needs, as well as the creativity required to find solutions to keeping love alive. (My partner has Alzheimer's and I can attest to the fact that without the love and connection, the Alzheimer's Journey is not worth doing together.)The book is encouraging for the well spouse that s/he can thrive and grow in the journey. It indirectly coaches the Person with Alzheimer's to work on his/her attitude, to remain positive and accepting of what is happening. It emphasizes appreciativeness and gratitude, crucial qualities to cultivate for couples - or anyone - living with a terminal, degenerative disease. Here is a quote that sums up the theme of the story so well: "Stay open, to the very end, to the positive things that might happen (rather than worry about the negative things that you've been told will probably happen). Expect good things to happen and they very often will."

This book is not a “guide”. It’s more of a memoir. I was hoping from the title of the book that this would provide practical tips for the caregiver. The author seems to have unintentionally created a book that can really offend those who are in the throws of caregiving. The primary theme running throughout the book is “Love conquers all”, including anger, personality changes, exhaustion, and loss of awareness. So the reader who is suffering through these issues must deduce that they aren’t “loving enough”. She was fortunate enough to have a large network of support to enable her to keep her husband home. Unfortunately few people have access to that kind of support. Bottom line, I did pick up a few tips, but as a whole I felt it was not helpful for me. Any one who chooses to try to keep their loved one home as long as possible loves them deeply. This disease is mean and love is what helps you get through it. But love in itself will never be enough to conquer the devastation of this illness.

I found the story really difficult in some places because it reminded me of some of the hard times we went through when losing my grandma. The story made me grateful for my current relationship and I think provides a useful guide for what to expect and how to prepare when a loved one is facing a terminal and debilitating disease. Even though some might consider this book to be more in the genre of "inspiring" and "self-help," I thought it was also a lovely little autobiography and story of a relationship through the years. The couple went through some difficult times early on and overcame them to become stronger together. I think they are a model for encountering life with gratitude. They demonstrated how it is possible to match your values and priorities to actions and outcomes. Rosalys, thank you for sharing this piece of yourself, and Dan, thank you for helping bring us this valuable story.

I have an aunt who died from complications of Alzheimer's, and my brother's wife has been dealing with it for years. My brother and his wife are living at home with this, just as Rosalys and Mike did. This amazing book helped me understand a lot more about what they are going through. I think it is a must read for anyone who has a family member or friend who is dealing with this awful disease. Both of my parents had serious dementia before they passed away. Although my parents did not have Alzheimer's, much of what is said in this book applies to other forms of dementia. I wish I had read this when my parents were in their decline.

I have several friends who are coping with, and caring for, loved ones with Alzheimer’s, one of the most heartbreaking diseases. When I read Mike and Me I was inspired to share this as a gift. The book is a priceless guide for couples coping with Alzheimer's, filled with actual insights from the author who has been through it, a loving spouse's point of view. It is a book about great love, courage, grace, dignity and making the very best of time you are given, on your own terms. This book is a blessing and a gift, I highly recommend it.

The advice, the real life examples, and the message of hope - that we parents are our children's best chance at success - are indispensable. We are still in the thick of our battle with ED. But the "Stockdale Paradox" is in full effect: I have faith that we will prevail, regardless of the difficulties. Great book with lots of good text. I found the discussion of the first spouse series very interesting, but even better is the earlier discussion about the various political forces contributing to and opposing the issue of the commemorative coins and medallions. Really eye opening information. On the negative side, the quality of the color printing is not really good. The paper chosen is a heavy quality, but the quality of the printing is medium at best.It was also very interesting to compare photos and paintings of the presidential spouses versus the engraved images on the first spouse series of coins. It is clear that some of these coins are ugly not because the corresponding first spouse was ugly, no the job by the engraver was a poor one. The quality of the series seems to be very uneven.The most important lesson learned after spending hours studying the book: The US mint has produced an incredibly large variety of coins over the years. To many perhaps. One needs to watch carefully what the mint is doing. Some of their creations are really very beautiful, but that is not always the case.

Fantastic book highlighting the mint's work. Very photo heavy and loaded with interesting facts and historical references sure to entertain any coin collector or history fanatic.

Wow! This is very impressive book and when you read it you can tell that the author is passionate about the subject. What I like most about it is that it goes beyond the "Red Book" (formally known as A Guide Book of United States Coins) and identifies areas that not all collectors know about. There's the potential for lots of value discovery here for intrepid buyers looking for the next big thing.When one considers how much has been written about U.S. coins, it's remarkable that this hasn't been written already! Thankfully, Dennis has done a great job on this book and it would be of interest to those who like gold and silver bullion, U.S. coins, history (there are gorgeous, color photos throughout) and a lot more.As the back cover writes on many of the coins and medals covered, "some are 'sleepers' - underappreciated treasures with great potential waiting to be discovered." I'm glad that I was one of the first to buy this book, and I've already made some new additions to my collection based on the information that Dennis presents.Well done!
