Such a great supplemental homework book for studying for the LSAT. I think Manhattan Prep does a stellar job breaking down why answers are right and wrong. Along with their other study books, this book definitely helped me refine my skills.

There were a few printing errors, but they were pretty rare. This is the only reasonably priced option I could find for preptests in the 40s and the explanations were nice.

I should make a few points clear at the start. I have taken the LSAT multiple times, and I have multiple perfect scores. I have tutored people for the LSAT (but never worked for Manhattan Prep or any LSAT-prep company). I know the test extremely well. I no longer tutor people for this test, but if I did, this is one of the books I would recommend (in addition to every other real LSAT).The fact that the questions come from actual LSATs is the most important feature here. I've seen too many poorly written imitation questions (and, truth be told, a few poorly written actual questions). Anyone preparing for the test should work through every available real question. There really is no substitute.The grouping here is also helpful. Of course, the fact that the problems are grouped by type means that it is not just helpful but almost necessary to have complete tests other than these to work through since the variety of questions and the ability to identify question types when the questions are not neatly grouped are both important.Finally, the explanations are generally very good. There are a few questions that I would have explained differently, but I didn't find anything in this book that is flat-out wrong. (I didn't go through every single problem, though, so there may be some errors. But what I saw looks very good.)My biggest and really only reservation is about the printing. It looks amateurish, and the logic games have handwritten solutions. But the look isn't the reason people might buy this book, so that reservation is indeed slight. It's the content that matters, and the content is very helpful, I think.

If you want to get into the law school of your choice, or any law school for that matter, there is no doubt you are going to have to prepare for the LSAT. Simply being a good "test taker" is not going to be enough nor is that 4.0 you managed to hold onto for so long. There are a lot of people applying for a few slots and the competition will be hot. The difference can be how well you do on your LSATs. You're going to have to work hard, practice, think, and learn additional test taking strategies.What I really like about this book is how it teaches me to focus and take a close look at the questions themselves. I may have gotten a correct answer, but why did I chose that one over the others? Manhattan Prep goes through each question, one by one, working through the answers after you've completed a practice test. For example, when I just flipped through the book I spotted a question that was interesting. On one of the incorrect answers there's a conversational explanation outlining why each of the incorrect answers are tough, not particularly helpful, or irrelevant. I want to know where my own logic is flawed, or on the money, and why. I've taken tests and for months have pondered where I went wrong and will probably go wrong again on future tests.If you intend to prep for a test, you need to dedicate some time and a few dollars. If you really feel you are deficient, perhaps you need a course, but if you simply need practice, this is the book for you. I would also recommend buying some older versions, other "brand" names included, to work with. The more you practice these tests, the more confident you will feel with your ability to not only answer the questions, but answer them within the allotted time frame. For example, I took a real life test a while back. I only took one practice test prior to the actual one and because I haven't taken any tests in some time I went over the time limit. When I was taking the "real" test, time was called just as I finished. You need to be honest in accessing your own skills. This book is not going to teach you anything new, but is intended to help you with your test taking strategies and give a general overview of what types of questions you can expect. The questions are from actual tests.This is not a book that teaches emotional strategies to keep you as stress free as possible, but rather one that will put you through the paces and make you think. As an aside, did you know that "The median LSAT scores accepted by the best law schools in the country, such as Yale, Stanford, and Columbia, range from the high 160s to the low 170s. That translates to a percentile figure of 95 and up." There aren't any sidebars to throw out hints. This is a good solid practice book and I definitely like it. Working through some of these questions does make me think and work through questions rather than guess. It's divided up into three basic sections and I've listed the contents below. In general, after having taken the LSAT, MCAT, GRE and other standardized tests, I can say that the very best preparation is to sit down and learn the exam. Practice first with any and all REAL test questions you can get your hands on and go through each incorrect answer choice to understand why it is incorrect. This is truly the best way to develop your intution for any exam-- particularly the LSAT.Manhattan Prep has done an extraordinary job putting together this selection of practice materials. I have never used Manhattan's books in the past for tutoring or personal study, however, I am extremely impressed and will make this my first choice recommendation for future students. The big selling point here is that this book features REAL LSAT test questions. I can't overstate enough how important this is. Over the past many years I have seen some of the worst imitation questions imaginable in other publishers' test prep books. Secondly, the material is organized which makes studying and teaching from this book a little easier. Finally, there are good, thorough explanations. Theres a ton of material here and its extremely well organized. I can tell that Manhattan Prep put a lot of work and thought into their product.I would easily rank this series among the best available LSAT resources on the shelf today. Highly recommended!

This is not a procedural book, so if you're looking for "complete step A, then step B, and you'll know where you are" this isn't it.I am almost ashamed to admit after a lifetime of very amateur astronomy that Gooley says some things about the moon and stars that clicked in my head and changed my perspective on them. That insight alone was worth the price of admission.

This book is one of my favorite books of all time. This is the stuff you discuss on a camping trip, and despite discussing it at length, no one can quite remember the actual facts and rules of thumb that actually get you through. This is ancient wisdom we have lost. Could you sail across the ocean without modern devices and find your way? Could you hike miles and days through the woods with cloudy skies and find your way? People have done this for literally ever, yet we have all lost this ability in modern times. The usefulness of the stars might have been what originally interested humanity in them, rather than what they really are. Sand dunes, snow drifts, moss, puddles, stars, the sun, and even city buildings can all be used by us to get our bearings. I highlighted this book, then wrote notes in a little carry booklet of my own to take with me. This is invaluable information, all in one place.

This book will not turn you into a natural navigator after you read it. A s some reviewers wish it would. Rather it is a book that teaches you how to teach yourself to navigate without gps or compass, etc. It takes work, lots of it. And this book shows you how to get there. Its similar to the kamana program. Your not gonna be a naturalist just by buying and reading the material once and thats it. But you WILL if you work the program. Can you learn this stuff else where? Of course you can. But since we bought this book, we obviously are in need of finding this information. To sum it up, the book is excellent, but you have to work hard to get the benefit.

I was anxious to read this book, but I am disappointed in it. The description states that "Rich with navigational anecdotes collected across ages, continents, and cultures" and I don't think I would say it is "rich" in this aspect because I find the book is repetitive instead of introducing more examples. The description also states that "unlocks the directional clues hidden in the sun, moon, stars, clouds, weather patterns, lengthening shadows, changing tides, plant growth, and the habits of wildlife" and this is where I was most disappointed. The books does get into those "clues" but in far less detail than I expected or desired. In all my honesty, this book is very wordy and frustrating to read because it could get to the point far quicker and with less repetition and then perhaps it could have covered more finer details.

I have been a sailor and navigator for over 40 years but this book has revealed a number of new ways to me that enable you to get to your destination safely. The book is an easy read with excellent instructive navigational material. . This is a must read for anyone who is a coastal or offshore sailor, particularly considering that on-board electronic, navigational devices can and do fail at times ! In such cases you must have a backup plan for navigating. This book can definitely help.

Common sense and intuitive, pulled together in a fascinating book that is of value to those of us that spend our time outside to make us focus. Apparently early man (pre 2000) was quite capable without relying on gadgets.

I enjoy reading books about navigation so I picked this up out of curiosity. The book was written for someone who wants to use EVERY piece of the environment around them to attempt to locate north. Not sure if I would use the sections on wind, moss, and how trees grow but I did find the sections on celestial and solar navigation was interesting.

A lot of very interesting information that you can use on the trail. I hope to keep honing my knowledge with the help of this book and enhance my confidence while out hiking and backpacking.

Rented this as a requirement for a class and I'm seriously considering purchasing it. Great content, short and concise, very little dry material, but still has the entirety of the court cases rulings and opinions.

This was required reading for my MPA at SJSU and it was one of the dullest and boring books covering a subject that is actually very important, and fascinating. I don't blame the author for this book being so dull, I blame the teacher for picking it and making the material in the book even more dull.

First time using on kindle. Great information on the constitution

I bought this book for much cheaper than I would have found it in my local college bookstore or anywhere else online. It came very, very gently used much to my surprise, as I was expecting poorer quality for the price. It seems well-written, but I've only needed it a few times this entire semester.

I have always felt it is better to be informed before going on a vacation instead of taking the laissez faire come-what-may attitude. I like spontaneity, but I am afraid I will miss out on some of the really good stuff.Unfortunately, this book is several years old, and much of the information is out of date. However, the historical information, the outdoor activities info, and general information on the Branson area is great. The weakest section is on the many performers and shows that make Branson famous, and that is the result of so many changes in the theatre lineup since this book was written.There is an excellent section on restaurants that makes you want to travel to Branson just for the meals. Many of these restaurants have survived the years, but many new ones have appeared since this was written.I use this book as a guide - if a specific restaurant appeals to me, I use the Internet to try to verify and update the info. This is a very good book, a true five star rating, if only it was more current.
